Captain Joshua Slocum first published his story in The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine Vol. XXXVI and Vol. XXXVII (in 1899 and 1900.) It was illustrated by Thomas Fogarty and George Varian. Than the whole story was published as a book in 1901 by The Century Co., under the title Sailing Alone Around the World. I am proud owner of this sailing classic, actually signed by Captain Joshua Slocum on August 17, 1902. Following the title link you can read his whole story.
