By the end of the day Saito was about 170 miles from Cape Town. It looked like he might
finish late Friday or early Saturday. The only news came from Konioukhov, who wrote:
"I have very strong wind, but I can't go very speedy due to the high seas. The main
problem is that the wind strength is moving from 22 knots to 38 and it's very difficult to
tune the boat by the sails." He still had 1,159 miles to go and at this time it was
impossible to know, if he will finish on time to be able to continue in the race.
