It was another day of quiet sailing. Except for Petersen everybody kept silent. Looks like they were all concentrating only on sailing and getting to Cape Town as fast as possible. Stricker gained 30 miles on Yazykov, who passed and left Davie 15 miles behind moving to second place of remanding sailing fleet. Davie was slowly falling behind. Petersen was only 15 miles behind his stern and may passed Davie the next day, but not without a problem of his own. He reported: "A few days ago I broke a bolt on my chainplate, and finally I found the spare bolt and was able to install it. While doing that, I dropped the wrench overboard." Still, that was not as bad as sailing without the rudder, as Davie must do.
