By the end of the day Robin was still over 100 miles away from Cape Town. It must have been a great feeling for him, watching the shrinking distance to the finish line, getting closer and closer to the wonderful vision of the end to his rudderless sailing.

Over 300 miles behind Robin, Neil Hunter was getting first to make contact with the overpassing cold front. He wrote: "Well, we are rocking and rolling now, riding this front like a surfer rides a wave. Mildred (the monitor) is doing an amazing job steering, although the course is one continual zigzag. Forecast has the front passing over me in the next couple of hours when the wind should back to the SW and I gybe to stay on course. Getting closer. See y'all tomorrow."

Fedor Konioukhov who was further back was feeling the full effect of the front. "Hello everybody." He wrote. "I have a storm from South, very cold winds and high seas. I am steering for 6 hours, to get better performance, then I do some rest for 30-35 min. After 6 hours of standing and steering, I have a feeling that my legs are not mine any more."
