Two weeks have passed, well over 4,000 miles were left to go to Cape Town, and nothing had been decided in either class. Thiercelin picked the lead five days ago and still held it with 65 miles advantage over Mike Golding, 84 miles over Josh Hall, and 127 miles ahead of Isabelle Autissier. Giovanni Soldini was 379 miles behind Thiercelin.

In Class II, Mouligne continued to lead with 14 miles advantage over Mike Garside. The wind conditions were light, but the tradewinds' strength should rise. JP finally got some wind during the night and he had been reaching 12 to 13 knots all night. Competitors were getting the positions at 1100 GMT every day and they called it "the 11 o'clock news..." Through the day they were getting two more updates at 1700 and 2300 GMT, so everybody was well aware of how they were doing compared to each another.

Even the boats a little more behind had the same light winds. Petersen
noticed: "The wind has been hard on the nose, but we have stayed moving at 5+ knots.
I made 129 mile progress in the last 24hr. We did manage to close the gap a bit with Saito
and Davis. They were, earlier in the day, less than 30 miles ahead of me in the same area.
That is good news as it means they have the same conditions."
